BIOGRAPHY

 
 
Ugo Senatore  graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honors from the University of Catania in 1977 and then specialized with honors in Anesthesia and Reanimation and Pain Therapy in 1980 at the same University.
 
He graduated in Acupuncture in Turin in June 1978 at the Italian School of Acupuncture (S.I.A.)  directed by Prof. Ulderico Lanza, and in May 1979 he obtained the World Diploma of "Docteur en Acupuncture" (AC.D. W.U.A.S.S).
 
From 1977 to 1978 he undertook medical-practical training in Anesthesia Reanimation and Pain Therapy at the Hospital S. Marta and Villermosa of Catania directed by Prof. Mario Bellelli with an evaluation of excellent and from 1979 to April 1980 he attended as an internal doctorl the Institute of Anesthesia and Reanimation and Pain Therapy of the University of Catania, directed by Prof. Francesco Foti, while from 1981 to 1986 he attended the Institute of Endocrinology and Constitutional Pathology directed by Prof. Riccardo Vigneri, with reference to the problems of obesity and diet therapy.
 
From May 1980 to January 1983 he was assistant of Anesthesia and Reanimation and pain therapy at the Hospital S. Marta and Villermosa of Catania directed by Prof. Mario Bellelli and from February 1983 until January 1989 he was assistant of Anesthesia and Reanimation and from February 1989 to December 1993 he was primary vice and from January 1994 until July 1995 1st level medical director, band A and from August 1995 until 2007 he was the Director of I ° Level of Anesthesia and Reanimation and Pain Therapy at the Hospital of high specialization and national importance Garibaldi (ARNAS) of Catania.
 
In 1985 he passed the ECFMG exam (recognition of the degree in Medicine and Surgery in the United States).
 
From February 1986 to December 1986 he was Fellowship at the "School of Medicine of Mouth Sinai" in New York, connected with the "University School of Medicine of New York" where he obtained the Fellowship diploma in:
 
"Gastroenterology and Nutrition" with clinical focus on acute and chronic diseases of the bilio-digestive tract with all the problems in clinical nutrition.
 
From February 1987 to December 1987 he was fellowship at the "Pain Center" of the "School of Medicine of New York" where he obtained the Fellowship diploma in:
 
" Management and Pain Therapy " with clinical focus in Acupuncture, Cancer Pain Syndrome, Chronic Neck, Chronic Pain, Regional Pain, Coccydynia, Herniated Disc, Shoulder Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Back Pain, Osteoarthritis, Post-thoracotomy Syndrome, post-thoracic pain syndrome, sciatic pain syndrome, spinal and epidural anesthesia, spinal corticosteroid injection, spinal stenosis, trigeminal neuralgia, peridural infiltrations.
 
In the national examination session of the year 1989 he obtained in Italy the National Qualification as a Primary of Anesthesia and Reanimation with the highest marks.
 
From February 1990 to December 1990 he was fellowship at " The University of Texas - Medical School at Houston " in U.S.A. where he earned a fellowship diploma in:
 
" Management and Pain Therapy in the cancer " with a clinical focus on improving multidisciplinary treatment in cancer pain.
 
From January 1991 until December 1991 he was appointed as an extraordinary Professor of Pain Therapy at the Institute of Anesthesia and Reanimation and Pain Therapy of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart Gemelli Hospital of Rome, directed by Prof. Alessandro Gasparetto , with a clinical focus on pain therapy, in antalgic blocks, in peripheral anesthesia, spinal, peridural, differential, regional, superselective.
 
In the same period he attended as an internal Doctor The Pain therapy department of the Regina Elena Hospital in Rome directed by Prof. Guido Moricca with a clinical focus on selective nerve blocks in cancer pains.
 
He has participated in over 50 national and international conferences and has published over 100 studies in Anesthesia, Intensive Care, Pain Therapy and he has used his knowledge of electronics in medicine, realizing in 1978 with modulated percutaneous electrostimulation the tympanic membrane anesthesia for the first time in the world, and with square wave electrostimulators, it obtained intraoperative surgical analgesia without general anesthesia and with the invention and the introduction of isolated needle-controlled nervous wave electrostimulators gave a strong impulse to all the analgesic blocks in anesthesia In addition, he has worked in the USA on biomedicine and vital function monitoring programs.
 
Since 2007 he has retired and is dedicated to the free profession and to study and research in Pain Therapy, Acupuncture and Clinical Dietology.
